Walking in your own footsteps
paving something sure, certain.
Back and forth,
balance becomes a full body prayer.
You cannot get lost in here.
There are no dead-ends.
No tricks of the mind.
No illusion.
Or confusion.
There is nothing to figure out.
You will know which way to turn.
There is nothing to fix.
Nothing about you to fix.
You motion so close to what you think you need, to where you think you're heading
only to find yourself as far away as you've ever been.

How you got here from there.
The unexpected, unforeseen turns
that cast you off on a new trajectory and widen your vision
to sense something whole and complete
within reach
within you.
The mind wonders if you are back where you started, if you are getting nowhere, if you are moving further away. If you should turn around.
Each footstep empties your mind
and absorbs your heart.
The clutter and the clamour
nursed softly
in this slow meandering continuum of soul.
Letting go. Letting go.
And yet you are held.
Bound by sacred lines that guide you without obstruction.
You can see all the way in, and all the way out.
Nothing hidden or obscured.
Denied or distorted.
All is contained within the journey itself.
And then from the centre you may notice
how far you have come, how close you have been, how near you came.
You notice too, where you are;
You notice, you.
You stay a while and rest,
wondering upon the twists and turns that brought you here.
Surveying what felt so uncertain.
Receiving at once something new and familiar.
You remember.
Yet you cannot stay.
Life calls you into the world.
Returning,
you must
relinquish, retrace, revisit, review, reflect, reframe, rewrite,
every imprint you made getting there from here.
You came with so much to do
You leave with one thing to be.
You cross the entrance, an exit now.
Everything is both.
